Due to impending retirement plans, the owners of Shamrock Chandlery are looking to dispose of their financial interests in the business, either as a complete sale, or a progressive sale of shares over an agreed period.

Shamrock Chandlery has been established for over 20 years, and is one of the premier independent chandlery shops in the UK, with 5000 sq feet of hardware, safety equipment, shoes, boots and clothing. It is the only Chandlery in Southampton.

We are situated on a marina with a working quay, with easy parking for both boats and cars. There is a busy pub, restaurant, shops and various other marine businesses, all within walking distance of the Chandlery.

We are also within a twenty minute walk from the City Centre. We serve the needs of yachtsmen with boats within a radius of 2 miles at Ocean Village (375 berths), Hythe Marina (209 berths), Saxon Wharf, Kemps Quay Marina, Drivers Wharf, on numerous boats moored in the Itchen River, and the many local sailing clubs, in addition to Shamrock Quay Marina (255 berths), where we are based. Huge opportunities for expansion will exist in the future on account of the major re-development plans for Woolston, across the River Itchen, and Marchwood in Hythe.

In addition we have customers from all parts of the UK and beyond. We have a variety of trade customers on the quay, with businesses ranging from engineering to charter boats, which gives us an all year round income. Shamrock Quay also has owners working on their own boats, painting and maintaining and sometimes requesting obscure parts for us to track down from our suppliers – very often we will have these parts in stock.

Shamrock Chandlery is open 7 days a week, all year round, and we have an experienced crew, who can give advice on a broad spectrum of subjects. Our crew includes marine industry professionals such as Adrian Hamlett our Chandlery Manager who counts 20 years with the likes of Simpson Lawrence, Baltic and other chandleries, giving a balanced input. Chris McGeary, our Stock Controller, whose specialisation is anything relating to books, charts and navigational instruments, in addition to his in depth knowledge of our inventory, has 18 years experience at Shamrock Chandlery alone, together with experience in Ocean Racing. Also among the crew we count on are experienced sailors from all aspects of boating. This gives a unique opportunity to give added value to our customers. We have an extensive selection of Paints from International Yacht Paints, Blakes, Seajet, Epifanes and Veneziani; stocks of epoxy and glassfibre products from SP, West and Blue G, sealants from SIKA, Arbo and Dow Corning; a vast selection of Stainless Steel fixings; immense safety section with Seago Liferafts in stock and Lalizas products, lifejackets from Baltic, Crewsaver and Seago; Shoes and Boots from Sebago, Musto, Crewsaver, Gill, YK and GOTOP; huge stocks of technical clothing from Gill, XM and GOTOP, large quantity of leisure clothing from Gill, Toggi and GOTOP, and various other brands.
We also have our renowned Bookshop, with a great many titles available, including pilots of most areas of the world, a comprehensive fiction section, technical instruction books, charts and navigational aids. We even have a Children’s Corner! If we do not have a publication in stock, we can normally source a copy within a couple of days, assuming it is still in print.
We are exclusive distributors for the UK, Channel Islands and Ireland of the GOTOP brand, whose quality products will fit the yachtsman from head to toe at an incredibly competitive price.
Shamrock Chandlery is currently developing our internet store, and we are confident that this will be very successful, as we bring to internet shopping a few unique areas of added value, such as our “Shamrock Green Option”, and inclusion for our internet shoppers into our Boat Owners Club scheme.
Since the summer of 1987 Shamrock Chandlery has operated the "Boat Owners Club", with the aim of providing a loyalty scheme with real value to the end user. This enables us to send marketing literature that will get a warm reception – it comes with real money in the form of credit cheques, just in time for Christmas!.
